What is it used for?
This topical medicine is used for certain skin infections involving fungi or bacteria, especially when redness, itching and inflammation are also present. It should be used only when prescribed, as it contains a strong corticosteroid.

How does it work?
Ketoconazole and tolnaftate act against fungi, while neomycin and iodochlorhydroxyquinoline act against certain bacteria and other microorganisms. Clobetasol reduces skin inflammation, redness and itching.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin exactly as prescribed. Wash hands before and after use, unless treating the hands. Avoid the eyes, mouth and inside of the nose. Do not cover the area with a tight bandage unless directed by a doctor. Do not use for longer than prescribed.

Common side effects
Mild burning, stinging, itching, redness, dryness or irritation at the application site. Prolonged or inappropriate use may cause skin thinning, stretch marks or changes in skin colour.

Precautions
Use only under medical advice because clobetasol is a potent steroid. Do not use on the face, groin, skin folds, broken skin or large areas unless specifically directed. Stop and seek medical advice if the rash worsens, spreads or develops swelling or severe irritation. Avoid use if there is a known allergy to any ingredient, including neomycin. Do not use for suspected viral skin infections unless prescribed.
