What is it used for?
Doxofylline is a bronchodilator used to help relieve and prevent breathing problems caused by asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including wheezing and shortness of breath.

How does it work?
It relaxes the muscles around the airways, helping them widen so that air can flow more easily.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the tablet with water and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. It is not intended to provide immediate relief during a sudden severe breathing attack; use the prescribed rescue inhaler when needed.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, headache, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, restlessness, tremor and fast or irregular heartbeat.

Precautions
Tell the doctor before use if there is a history of heart disease, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, seizures, overactive thyroid, or liver or kidney problems. Avoid taking other medicines containing theophylline or similar bronchodilators unless advised by a doctor. Limit excessive caffeine, and seek medical help for severe vomiting, chest pain, fainting or a very fast or irregular heartbeat. Tell the doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
