What is it used for?
Ranitidine reduces excess stomach acid. It may be used for acidity, heartburn, acid reflux (GERD), and some stomach or intestinal ulcers.

How does it work?
It blocks H2 receptors in the stomach, which reduces the production of stomach acid.

How to take/use it
Take it only as directed by a doctor or according to the product label. Swallow with water and do not exceed the recommended amount or duration. Ranitidine has been withdrawn or restricted in many countries; check current local regulatory advice before use.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, stomach discomfort, constipation, or diarrhoea.

Precautions
Tell a doctor if there is kidney or liver disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or use of other medicines. Seek medical advice for persistent or recurrent symptoms, difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, unexplained weight loss, or severe stomach pain. Do not use for unexplained stomach symptoms without medical advice, as it may mask a serious condition.
