What is it used for?
Ranitidine reduces excess stomach acid. It may be used for acidity, heartburn, acid reflux, and some stomach or duodenal ulcers when prescribed by a healthcare professional.

How does it work?
It blocks histamine H2 receptors in the stomach, reducing the production of stomach acid.

How to take/use it
Take it only as directed by a healthcare professional and follow the instructions on the label. Do not start, stop, or repeat treatment without medical advice. Swallow with water and do not take more than recommended.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, or dizziness.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is kidney or liver disease, a history of porphyria, or other medicines being used. Seek medical advice for difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black stools, unexplained weight loss, persistent vomiting, or severe stomach pain.
