What is it used for?
Ranitidine is used to reduce stomach acid and relieve acidity, heartburn and acid-related indigestion. It may also be used for acid reflux or stomach ulcers when recommended by a doctor.

How does it work?
It blocks histamine-2 receptors in the stomach, reducing the amount of acid produced.

How to take/use it
Take only as directed on the product label or by a doctor. Swallow with water and do not exceed the recommended amount. If symptoms persist or keep returning, seek medical advice.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, stomach discomfort, constipation or diarrhoea.

Precautions
Ranitidine has been withdrawn or restricted in many countries because of concerns about contamination; use it only if it is legally approved and supplied by a reliable pharmacy. Consult a doctor before use if there is kidney or liver disease, a history of stomach ulcer, difficulty swallowing, unexplained weight loss, vomiting, bleeding, or black stools.
