Elvas 5 Tab (25X10) Enalapril Maleate 5Mg by Elder

What is it used for?
Enalapril is mainly used to treat high blood pressure. It may also be prescribed for heart failure and certain heart-related conditions.

How does it work?
It blocks the action of a substance that narrows blood vessels. This helps the blood vessels relax, lowering blood pressure and reducing the workload on the heart.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. It may be taken with or without food. Do not stop it without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the prescriber’s instructions rather than taking an extra dose.

Common side effects
Dizziness, headache, weakness, nausea and a dry, persistent cough may occur. Dizziness can be more noticeable when starting treatment or when standing up.

Precautions
Do not use during pregnancy; inform the doctor immediately if pregnancy occurs. Tell the doctor about kidney disease, dehydration, low blood pressure, high potassium levels or previous swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat with similar medicines. Regular blood pressure, kidney function and potassium monitoring may be needed. Seek urgent help for swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, fainting or severe dizziness.
