What is it used for?
Prochlorperazine is used to relieve nausea and vomiting. It may also be prescribed for dizziness or vertigo and nausea associated with migraine.

How does it work?
It blocks dopamine signals in the brain that can trigger nausea and vomiting. It also reduces abnormal signals involved in dizziness and vertigo.

How to take/use it
Use only as prescribed. Place the mouth-dissolving tablet on the tongue and allow it to dissolve. Do not take more than prescribed. Avoid driving or operating machinery until its effects are known.

Common side effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision and restlessness may occur. Some people may develop muscle stiffness, tremors or other abnormal movements.

Precautions
Avoid alcohol, as it can increase drowsiness. Seek medical help for severe muscle stiffness, uncontrolled movements, high fever, confusion, fainting or an irregular heartbeat. Tell the doctor before use if there is Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, glaucoma, prostate problems, liver disease or a history of heart rhythm problems.
