What is it used for?
Ethamsylate is used to help reduce excessive bleeding, especially heavy menstrual bleeding and bleeding from small blood vessels, when prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
It helps strengthen small blood vessels and improves the ability of platelets to form a plug at the site of bleeding, which can help reduce blood loss.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the tablet with water and do not change the dose or duration without medical advice. Do not take extra doses to control sudden or heavy bleeding.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, stomach discomfort or skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Seek medical care for very heavy, prolonged or unexplained bleeding, or if bleeding is accompanied by dizziness, weakness or fainting. Tell the doctor about any allergy to ethamsylate, porphyria, pregnancy or breastfeeding before use. Stop the medicine and seek urgent help for facial swelling, breathing difficulty or a severe skin rash.
