Eptovac 100 Tab (Xxx) (100'S) Phenytoin Sodium 100Mg by Elder

What is it used for?
Phenytoin is mainly used to prevent and control certain types of seizures (epilepsy). It helps reduce abnormal electrical activity in the brain.

How does it work?
It reduces the spread of excessive electrical signals in the brain by blocking certain sodium channels in nerve cells.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, at the same times each day. Do not change the dose or stop treatment suddenly, as this may trigger seizures. If a dose is missed, follow the prescriber's instructions and do not take an extra dose unless advised. Regular blood tests may be needed to check the medicine level and monitor safety.

Common side effects
Dizziness, drowsiness, unsteadiness, nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision and gum swelling or overgrowth may occur.

Precautions
Seek urgent medical advice for a skin rash, blistering, peeling skin, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, unusual bruising, severe tiredness or yellowing of the eyes or skin. Phenytoin has many medicine interactions; inform the doctor about all medicines, including contraceptive pills and supplements. Tell the doctor about liver or kidney disease, pregnancy or plans for pregnancy. Maintain good oral hygiene and attend recommended check-ups and blood tests. Avoid stopping it suddenly or taking alcohol unless the doctor advises it is safe.
