What is it used for?
Etodolac is used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation, especially in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other muscle or joint conditions.

How does it work?
It is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It reduces the production of substances in the body that cause pain, swelling and inflammation.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed. Taking it with or after food and a full glass of water may help reduce stomach irritation. Do not take more than prescribed or combine it with other NSAID painkillers unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness and heartburn.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney or liver disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma triggered by painkillers, or allergy to NSAIDs. Seek medical help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, chest pain, breathing difficulty, facial swelling or a serious skin rash. Avoid use during pregnancy unless specifically prescribed, particularly from 20 weeks onwards and during the last trimester. Older adults and people taking blood thinners, steroids or other medicines that increase bleeding risk should use it only under medical advice.
