What is it used for?
Faropenem 200 mg is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It does not work for viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It kills susceptible bacteria by blocking the formation of their protective cell wall, helping to clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed by the doctor. Follow the prescribed dose and duration, swallow the tablet with water, and complete the full course even if symptoms improve. Do not share antibiotics or use leftover medicine.

Common side effects
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort and skin rash may occur. Seek medical advice if diarrhoea is severe or persistent.

Precautions
Do not take it if there has been a serious allergy to faropenem or other beta-lactam antibiotics such as penicillins, cephalosporins or carbapenems. Inform the doctor about kidney disease, previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, facial swelling or a severe skin reaction.
