What is it used for?
Faropenem is an antibiotic used to treat susceptible bacterial infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
It kills bacteria by blocking the formation of their protective cell wall, helping to clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the sustained-release tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Do not take it if there is a known allergy to faropenem or other beta-lactam antibiotics unless specifically advised by a doctor. Tell the doctor about kidney problems, previous antibiotic-related diarrhoea, allergies, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for severe or persistent diarrhoea, breathing difficulty, facial swelling, or a serious skin rash.
