What is it used for?
Fenofibrate is used with diet and lifestyle changes to treat high levels of triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood, helping reduce the risk of complications from abnormal blood fats.

How does it work?
It helps the liver process and remove certain fats from the blood. It mainly lowers triglycerides and may increase protective HDL cholesterol.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed. Swallow the prolonged-release tablet whole with water; do not crush or chew it. Continue the recommended diet and exercise plan, and attend blood tests as advised.

Common side effects
Nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhoea, headache, and changes in liver blood tests may occur. Muscle pain or weakness can occur and should be reported promptly.

Precautions
Inform the doctor about liver, kidney, or gallbladder disease, or a history of muscle problems. Seek medical advice promptly for severe muscle pain or weakness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or severe abdominal pain. The risk of muscle problems may increase when used with statins. Inform the doctor about pregnancy, breastfeeding, and all other medicines being taken.
