What is it used for?

How does it work?
Ferric carboxymaltose supplies iron that the body uses to make haemoglobin and red blood cells. It also helps replenish the body's stored iron.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given only by a healthcare professional through a vein (intravenous injection or infusion). The dose and number of treatments depend on the severity of iron deficiency and the individual's iron needs. It must not be self-administered.

Common side effects
Nausea, headache, dizziness, flushing, high blood pressure, and reactions at the injection site. Low phosphate levels may occur, especially with repeated treatment.

Precautions
