What is it used for?
Fexofenadine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny or itchy nose, and itchy or watery eyes. It may also be used to relieve itching and hives (urticaria).

How does it work?
It blocks the action of histamine, a substance involved in allergic reactions. This helps reduce allergy symptoms and itching.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as directed on the label or by a doctor, with water. Avoid taking it with fruit juices such as apple, orange or grapefruit juice, as they may reduce its effect. Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium should be taken separately as advised by a healthcare professional.

Common side effects
Headache, nausea, dizziness or mild tiredness may occur. Fexofenadine usually causes little drowsiness, but some people may still feel sleepy.

Precautions
Tell a doctor if there is kidney disease, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid driving or operating machinery if dizziness or sleepiness occurs. Seek medical advice if symptoms are severe, unusual or do not improve.
