Foldivit (20X30 T) Folic Acid 5 Mg By Cadila

What is it used for?
Folic acid 5 mg is used to prevent or treat folate deficiency and folate-deficiency anaemia. A higher-strength dose may also be prescribed before and during pregnancy to help reduce the risk of neural tube defects in the baby.

How does it work?
Folic acid is a form of vitamin B9. It helps the body make healthy red blood cells and supports normal cell growth and development.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and swallow with water. It can usually be taken with or without food. Do not change the dose or duration without medical advice.

Common side effects
Usually well tolerated. Possible effects include nausea, bloating, abdominal discomfort or a skin rash.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any vitamin B12 deficiency or unexplained anaemia, as folic acid may improve the anaemia while allowing nerve damage from B12 deficiency to continue. Tell the doctor about allergies and all medicines being taken. High-strength folic acid should be used in pregnancy only as advised by a healthcare professional.
