Folizen Tabs (100X30) Folic Acid Ip 5Mg by Elder

What is it used for?
Folic Acid 5 mg is used to prevent or treat folate deficiency and folate-deficiency anaemia. It may also be prescribed during pregnancy, particularly when a higher-strength supplement is medically advised, to help reduce the risk of neural tube defects in the baby.

How does it work?
Folic acid provides folate, a vitamin needed for making DNA and healthy red blood cells. This helps correct or prevent problems caused by folate deficiency.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Swallow the tablet with water; it may usually be taken with or without food. Do not change the dose or treatment duration without medical advice.

Common side effects
Nausea, bloating, gas, reduced appetite or a mild skin rash may occur. Serious allergic reactions are rare.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any vitamin B12 deficiency or unexplained anaemia, as folic acid can improve anaemia while allowing nerve damage from B12 deficiency to progress. Inform the doctor about pregnancy, breastfeeding and all medicines being used, especially medicines for epilepsy or methotrexate. Seek medical advice if symptoms persist or worsen.
