What is it used for?
Used for long-term control and prevention of symptoms such as wheezing, breathlessness and coughing in asthma. It may also be prescribed for maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in some patients.

How does it work?
Budesonide reduces inflammation and swelling in the airways. Formoterol relaxes the airway muscles and helps keep the airways open for easier breathing.

How to take/use it
Use by oral inhalation exactly as prescribed, with the correct inhaler technique. Shake and use the inhaler as directed for the device, and rinse the mouth with water after use without swallowing. Do not stop regular treatment suddenly. Use a separate quick-relief inhaler for sudden breathing difficulty unless a doctor has specifically prescribed this inhaler as part of a reliever plan.

Common side effects
Mouth or throat irritation, hoarseness, oral thrush, headache, tremor, muscle cramps, fast heartbeat or palpitations, and cough may occur.

Precautions
Seek urgent medical help if breathing suddenly worsens or does not improve with the prescribed reliever. Inform the doctor about heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems, low potassium, glaucoma, or current infections. Regular mouth rinsing helps reduce the risk of oral thrush. Do not use more often than prescribed, and report persistent palpitations, severe tremor or vision changes.
