What is it used for?
This antibiotic injection is used to treat certain bacterial infections. It should be used only when prescribed by a doctor and is not effective against viral infections such as colds or flu.

How does it work?
Cefuroxime stops susceptible bacteria from forming their protective cell wall. Sulbactam helps cefuroxime work against some bacteria that can resist certain antibiotics.

How to take/use it
This medicine is given as an injection by a doctor or nurse. The dose and duration depend on the type and severity of infection, kidney function and medical advice. Complete the prescribed course unless the doctor advises otherwise.

Common side effects
Pain or redness at the injection site, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about any allergy to cefuroxime, penicillins, cephalosporins or other antibiotics, kidney problems, or a previous episode of severe antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Seek urgent medical help for breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or throat, severe rash, or severe or persistent diarrhoea.
