What is it used for?
Fusidic acid is a topical antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the skin, such as infected cuts, sores or other skin infections, when the bacteria are sensitive to it.

How does it work?
It stops susceptible bacteria from making essential proteins, which helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Apply to the affected skin exactly as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Wash hands before and after use, unless the hands are being treated. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and inside of the nose.

Common side effects
Mild skin irritation, burning, stinging, itching, redness or rash at the application site.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to fusidic acid or any ingredient. Do not use for longer or more often than advised, as repeated or prolonged use may increase the risk of antibiotic resistance. Stop using it and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling or signs of an allergic reaction occur, or if the infection worsens or does not improve.
