What is it used for?
Used mainly to relieve neuropathic pain, which is pain caused by irritated or damaged nerves. It may help with burning, shooting, tingling or electric-shock-like pain.

How does it work?
Gabapentin reduces abnormal nerve signalling, while nortriptyline changes the levels of certain chemical messengers involved in pain processing. Together, they can reduce nerve pain.

How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed. Swallow the tablet with water and follow the prescribed timing. Do not stop treatment suddenly without medical advice, as the dose may need to be reduced gradually.

Common side effects
Sleepiness, dizziness, tiredness, dry mouth, constipation, blurred vision, nausea and difficulty concentrating may occur.

Precautions
Avoid alcohol and take care when driving or operating machinery until the effects are known. Inform the doctor about kidney problems, glaucoma, difficulty passing urine, heart problems, depression or suicidal thoughts. Seek medical help for severe mood changes, unusual swelling, breathing difficulty or a serious allergic reaction. Tell the doctor about all other medicines, especially sleeping medicines, strong painkillers or other medicines that cause drowsiness.
