Description

Gefonib (Gefitinib) is an epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor used in the treatment of certain types of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). It works by blocking cancer cell growth and proliferation in patients whose tumors express EGFR mutations.

Precautions

Use only under supervision of an oncologist.
Regular monitoring of liver function and lung function is required.
Inform the doctor if you develop breathing difficulty, severe diarrhea, or eye irritation.
Avoid use in severe liver disease unless prescribed.
Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication.
Avoid taking with strong CYP3A4 inducers or inhibitors unless advised.

Adverse Effects

Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
Skin rash, itching, dry skin.
Loss of appetite.
Increased liver enzymes.
Rare: interstitial lung disease, severe skin reactions, eye inflammation.
