Glimepiride IP 1 mg

Description:
Glimda 1 Tablet contains Glimepiride, an oral sulfonylurea antidiabetic agent that helps control blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
It acts by stimulating insulin release from pancreatic β-cells and increasing the sensitivity of peripheral tissues to insulin, thereby improving glucose utilization.

It is typically used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic drugs like metformin or insulin.

Indications:

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non–insulin-dependent diabetes)

As monotherapy or adjunct to other oral hypoglycemics or insulin

Warnings and Precautions:

Not for use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment.

Monitor blood glucose regularly to avoid hypoglycemia.

Maintain a consistent diet and exercise regimen.

Avoid alcohol consumption as it may enhance or reduce hypoglycemic effects.

Use during pregnancy or lactation only if prescribed by a physician.

Adverse Effects:

Hypoglycemia (sweating, tremor, dizziness, palpitations)

Nausea, headache, or mild gastrointestinal discomfort

Rare: Allergic skin reactions or hepatic enzyme elevation
