What is it used for?
Glimepiride 1 mg is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
It stimulates the pancreas to release more insulin, helping lower blood sugar levels.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually with or shortly before a meal. Take it at the same time each day and do not skip meals after taking it. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Low blood sugar, dizziness, headache, nausea and weight gain. Low blood sugar may cause sweating, shakiness, hunger, weakness or confusion.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision. The risk of low blood sugar is higher if meals are skipped, alcohol is consumed, or other diabetes medicines are used. Inform the doctor about kidney or liver problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek urgent medical help for severe low blood sugar, fainting or confusion.
