What is it used for?
This medicine is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
It helps the pancreas release more insulin, which lowers blood sugar levels.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually with or just before a main meal. Do not skip meals after taking it. Swallow the tablet with water and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Low blood sugar, dizziness, headache, nausea and weight gain. Low blood sugar may cause sweating, shakiness, hunger, weakness, confusion or a fast heartbeat.

Precautions
Use carefully if there is kidney or liver disease, or an allergy to sulfonylurea medicines. Monitor blood sugar regularly. Avoid excessive alcohol, as it may increase the risk of low blood sugar. Seek medical help for severe or repeated low blood sugar. Tell the doctor if pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
