What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when one medicine alone is not enough.

How does it work?
Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and helps the body use insulin more effectively.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, usually with a meal, and swallow with water. Do not skip meals while taking it. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. Monitor blood sugar as advised.

Common side effects
Low blood sugar, especially if meals are missed; nausea, diarrhoea, stomach upset, abdominal discomfort, or a metallic taste.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision if there is kidney or liver disease. Avoid excessive alcohol and dehydration. Inform the doctor before surgery or an X-ray/scan involving contrast dye. Seek urgent medical help for severe or persistent weakness, breathing difficulty, unusual sleepiness, or severe abdominal symptoms. This medicine is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
