What is it used for?
This medicine is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when one medicine alone is not enough.

How does it work?
Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and helps the body use insulin more effectively.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, usually with or just before a meal to reduce stomach upset. Take it regularly and do not change the dose or stop it without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist; do not take an extra dose unless advised.

Common side effects
Low blood sugar, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, gas, and loss of appetite. Weight gain may occur with glimepiride.

Precautions
Low blood sugar can cause sweating, shakiness, dizziness, hunger, confusion, or weakness; carry a quick source of sugar if advised. Take extra care with alcohol, irregular meals, or strenuous exercise. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, heart failure, heavy alcohol use, or dehydration. Kidney function may need monitoring, and the medicine may need to be paused before certain contrast-dye tests or surgery. Seek urgent medical help for severe weakness, breathing difficulty, persistent vomiting, or unusual sleepiness.
