What is it used for?
Glimepiride 2 mg + Metformin 1000 mg is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and helps the body use insulin better. Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin, which lowers blood sugar.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually with or just after food, and swallow it with water. Take it at the same time each day. Do not change the dose or stop it without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the prescriber and do not take extra tablets to make up for it.

Common side effects
Low blood sugar, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach upset, abdominal discomfort, and a metallic taste may occur. Low blood sugar can cause sweating, shaking, dizziness, hunger, or weakness.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision if there is kidney or liver disease, dehydration, severe infection, or heart problems. Avoid excessive alcohol, as it may increase the risk of low blood sugar and serious metformin-related complications. Monitor blood sugar regularly and know how to treat low blood sugar. Tell the doctor before surgery or contrast-dye scans, and inform them if pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek urgent help for severe weakness, breathing difficulty, persistent vomiting, or unusual sleepiness.
