What is it used for?
This medicine is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when blood sugar is not adequately controlled with other treatment. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Glimepiride helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver, while pioglitazone helps the body use insulin more effectively.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, usually with a meal, and do not skip meals. Swallow it as directed and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. Regularly monitor blood sugar as advised.

Common side effects
Low blood sugar, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, headache, weight gain and swelling of the ankles or legs may occur.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision. Inform the doctor about kidney or liver disease, heart failure, bladder cancer, or a history of bone fractures. Kidney function should be checked during treatment. Avoid excessive alcohol, as it may increase the risk of low blood sugar or a serious metformin-related reaction. Seek medical help for severe weakness, breathing difficulty, unusual sleepiness, severe swelling, or symptoms of low blood sugar such as sweating, shaking, dizziness or confusion. Tell the doctor if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
