What is it used for?
This medicine is used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when one medicine alone is not enough.
How does it work?
Glimepiride helps the pancreas release insulin. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and improves the body's response to insulin, while voglibose slows the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates after meals.
How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, usually with or just before a meal. Do not skip meals, change the dose, or stop treatment without medical advice. Monitor blood sugar as recommended.
Common side effects
Low blood sugar, nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, indigestion, gas and headache. Low blood sugar may cause sweating, shakiness, dizziness, hunger or weakness.
Precautions
Use only under medical supervision, especially if there is kidney or liver disease, heavy alcohol use, or a history of low blood sugar. Avoid alcohol unless the doctor advises otherwise. Inform the doctor before surgery, serious illness, dehydration, or contrast-dye tests. Seek medical help for severe or persistent weakness, breathing difficulty, unusual sleepiness, or symptoms of very low blood sugar.
