What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Glipizide helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and helps the body use insulin more effectively.

How to take/use it
Take exactly as prescribed, usually with meals, to reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet as directed and do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice. If a dose is missed, follow the instructions provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea, stomach upset, abdominal discomfort, reduced appetite, and a metallic taste. Low blood sugar may cause sweating, shakiness, dizziness, hunger, or weakness.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision. Tell the doctor about kidney or liver problems, heavy alcohol use, heart failure, or planned surgery or contrast-dye scans. Avoid excessive alcohol. Seek medical help for severe weakness, breathing difficulty, persistent vomiting, severe abdominal pain, or symptoms of very low blood sugar. Kidney function may need monitoring.
