Glymet Tab (80/500Mg) (10X10) Gliclazide 80 Mg,Metformin 500 Mg by Elder

What is it used for?
Used with diet and exercise to help control high blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes when one medicine alone is not enough. It is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

How does it work?
Gliclazide helps the pancreas release more insulin. Metformin reduces glucose production by the liver and helps the body use insulin more effectively.

How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed, usually with food, and follow the prescribed schedule. Do not skip meals after taking it. Monitor blood sugar as advised and do not change or stop treatment without medical advice.

Common side effects
Low blood sugar, especially if meals are skipped; nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, loss of appetite and a metallic taste. Long-term metformin use may reduce vitamin B12 levels.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney or liver disease, heavy alcohol use, heart failure, or any serious infection. Seek urgent medical help for severe weakness, breathing difficulty, persistent vomiting, severe stomach pain or unusual drowsiness. Metformin may need to be stopped temporarily before certain contrast-dye scans or surgery. Carry a source of sugar and learn to recognise low blood sugar symptoms such as sweating, shaking, dizziness and confusion.
