What is it used for?
This medicine is used to help stimulate appetite in people with poor appetite or inadequate food intake. Unexplained weight loss should be medically evaluated rather than treated with this medicine alone.

How does it work?
Cyproheptadine blocks certain histamine and serotonin effects and may increase appetite. Tricholine provides choline, while sorbitol is used as an inactive ingredient and may have a mild laxative effect.

How to take/use it
Take only as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Do not increase the dose or use it for weight gain without medical advice. If it is a liquid, measure each dose with an appropriate measuring device rather than a household spoon.

Common side effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, increased appetite, nausea, stomach discomfort, and loose stools or diarrhoea may occur.

Precautions
Cyproheptadine may cause drowsiness; avoid driving, operating machinery, and alcohol until its effects are known. Seek medical advice before use if there is glaucoma, difficulty passing urine, asthma, liver disease, or a history of seizures. Do not use in children under 2 years unless specifically prescribed. Seek medical help for severe sleepiness, breathing difficulty, or an allergic reaction.
