What is it used for?
Lignocaine is a local anaesthetic used to temporarily numb an area of the body before certain medical or dental procedures and to relieve localised pain when applied as directed.

How does it work?
It temporarily blocks pain signals from the nerves in the area where it is applied, causing reduced sensation.

How to take/use it
Use only on the area and by the route directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Do not apply more or more often than recommended, and do not swallow unless specifically instructed. Avoid eating or drinking while the mouth or throat is numb.

Common side effects
Temporary numbness, tingling, mild burning or irritation at the application site. Allergic reactions are uncommon.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to lignocaine or similar local anaesthetics. Avoid contact with the eyes and do not apply to large, damaged or infected areas unless advised by a healthcare professional.
