What is it used for?
Etoricoxib is used to relieve pain, swelling and stiffness caused by inflammatory joint conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.

How does it work?
It selectively blocks COX-2 enzymes, which reduces the production of substances that cause pain and inflammation.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, with or without food. Do not take more than the prescribed amount, and do not combine it with other painkillers such as ibuprofen or diclofenac unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, swelling of the legs or feet, and increased blood pressure.

Precautions
Tell the doctor if there is a history of heart disease, stroke, uncontrolled high blood pressure, stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney or liver disease, or allergy to painkillers. It may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially with long-term use or higher doses. Avoid use during pregnancy unless specifically prescribed, and seek urgent help for chest pain, breathing difficulty, black stools or a severe allergic reaction.
