What is it used for?
Povidone iodine 10% is a topical antiseptic used to clean and help prevent infection in minor cuts, grazes, wounds and burns. It may also be used to disinfect the skin before certain medical procedures.

How does it work?
It releases iodine, which kills or prevents the growth of many bacteria, viruses and fungi on the skin.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Clean the affected area and apply as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and other body openings. Do not swallow.

Common side effects
Mild skin irritation, redness, dryness or itching may occur. Stop use and seek medical advice if a severe rash, swelling or breathing difficulty develops.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to povidone iodine or iodine-containing products. Avoid prolonged or repeated use over large areas, especially in people with thyroid problems, unless advised by a healthcare professional. Seek medical care for deep, extensive or seriously infected wounds, or if the wound does not improve.
