What is it used for?
Povidone iodine 5% is a topical antiseptic used to help clean and disinfect minor cuts, wounds and burns and reduce the risk of infection. Use only for the purpose stated on the product label.

How does it work?
It slowly releases iodine, which kills or inactivates many types of germs on the skin.

How to take/use it
For external use only. Apply to the affected area as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Do not swallow, and avoid contact with the eyes unless the product is specifically made for eye use. Do not use more often or for longer than recommended.

Common side effects
Mild skin irritation, redness, dryness or stinging may occur. Allergic reactions are uncommon but possible.

Precautions
Do not use if allergic to povidone iodine or iodine. Avoid applying repeatedly over large areas, deep wounds or severe burns unless advised by a healthcare professional.
