What is it used for?
Sildenafil is mainly used to treat erectile dysfunction (difficulty getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sexual activity).

How does it work?
It increases blood flow to the penis by relaxing blood vessels. It works only with sexual stimulation and does not increase sexual desire.

How to take/use it
Take it only as prescribed and follow the instructions on the label. Swallow with water. Do not take more than prescribed or use it with other medicines for erectile dysfunction.

Common side effects
Headache, flushing, indigestion, blocked or runny nose, dizziness, and changes in vision.

Precautions
Do not use sildenafil with nitrate medicines for chest pain or with riociguat, as this can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Seek medical help for chest pain, sudden loss of vision or hearing, or an erection lasting more than 4 hours. Tell a doctor about heart problems, low blood pressure, or use of alpha-blockers before taking it.
