Description

Intapred-16 is a glucocorticoid (corticosteroid) used for its potent anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and anti-allergic effects. It is used in conditions where strong suppression of inflammation or immune response is needed, such as severe asthma exacerbations, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory diseases.

Precautions

Use the lowest effective dose and shortest duration to minimize side effects.

When used long-term, the dose should be tapered to avoid adrenal insufficiency.

Use cautiously in patients with infection, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, glaucoma, peptic ulcer disease, or liver/kidney dysfunction.

Monitor for signs of fluid retention, blood sugar elevation, and bone density loss with chronic use.

Avoid live vaccines during therapy.

Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.

Skin thinning, bruising, delayed wound healing

Long-term: osteoporosis, muscle weakness, cataracts, adrenal suppression
