What is it used for?
Methylprednisolone is a corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation and overactive immune reactions in conditions such as severe allergies, asthma, arthritis, and other inflammatory or autoimmune disorders. It should be used only for the condition prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
It reduces the activity of the immune system and lowers the release of substances that cause inflammation, swelling, redness and allergic symptoms.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, preferably with food to reduce stomach upset. Do not stop it suddenly, especially after prolonged use; the dose may need to be reduced gradually under medical supervision.

Common side effects
Indigestion, increased appetite, difficulty sleeping, mood changes, headache, increased blood sugar and increased blood pressure may occur. The risk of side effects increases with higher doses or longer treatment.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about diabetes, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, osteoporosis, glaucoma, mental health conditions or any infection. Corticosteroids can reduce resistance to infection and may mask infection symptoms. Avoid contact with people who have contagious infections and check with a doctor before receiving vaccines. Seek medical help for signs of serious infection, severe mood changes, vision problems or black stools.
