What is it used for?
Used mainly to relieve menstrual cramps and abdominal pain caused by muscle spasms.

How does it work?
Mefenamic acid reduces the chemicals that cause pain and inflammation. Dicyclomine relaxes intestinal and abdominal muscles to reduce spasms and cramping.

How to take/use it
Take only as prescribed, preferably with or after food and with water. Do not take more or use it for longer than recommended. Avoid taking other painkillers containing NSAIDs unless advised by a doctor.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, indigestion, stomach pain, diarrhoea, dizziness, dry mouth and blurred vision.

Precautions
Avoid use if allergic to mefenamic acid, other NSAIDs or dicyclomine. Tell the doctor if there is a history of stomach ulcer or bleeding, kidney or liver disease, asthma triggered by painkillers, glaucoma, or difficulty passing urine. It may not be suitable during pregnancy, especially from 20 weeks onwards and in the last trimester. Seek urgent medical help for severe stomach pain, black stools, vomiting blood, breathing difficulty or facial swelling.
