What is it used for?
Itraconazole is an antifungal medicine used to treat fungal infections of the skin, nails, mouth, vagina and other parts of the body, as prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
It stops fungi from making an essential part of their cell membrane, which prevents the fungus from growing and helps clear the infection.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed and follow the instructions for the specific product. Complete the prescribed course, even if symptoms improve. Do not take extra doses if one is missed; follow the product or doctor’s instructions.

Common side effects
Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness and skin rash may occur.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about liver disease, heart failure, pregnancy or breastfeeding before use. Itraconazole can interact with many medicines, including some medicines for heart problems, cholesterol, acidity and anxiety; provide a full list of medicines being taken. Seek medical help for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe tiredness, breathing difficulty, swelling of the legs or a fast or irregular heartbeat.
