What is it used for?
Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itching or hives.

How does it work?
It blocks histamine, a substance involved in allergic reactions. This reduces itching, sneezing, runny nose and other allergy symptoms.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as prescribed by the doctor. It may cause drowsiness, so avoid driving or operating machinery until its effects are known. Do not take more than the recommended amount.

Common side effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, increased appetite and weight gain.

Precautions
Avoid alcohol and other medicines that cause drowsiness unless advised by a doctor. Use with medical advice if there is glaucoma, difficulty passing urine, asthma, liver or kidney disease. Older adults may be more sensitive to its sedative effects. Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
