Description:
Kemnicol 250 Capsule contains Chloramphenicol, a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through reversible binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing peptide bond formation and bacterial growth.

Warnings and Precautions:

For oral use only and under strict medical supervision.

Use only when other safer antibiotics are ineffective or contraindicated.

Prolonged or repeated use may lead to bone marrow suppression or aplastic anemia — monitor blood counts regularly.

Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to chloramphenicol or history of hematological disorders.

Use with caution in hepatic or renal impairment.

Not recommended in newborns due to the risk of “gray baby syndrome.”

Avoid concomitant use with other myelosuppressive drugs.

Use during pregnancy and lactation only if clearly indicated.

Adverse Effects:

Common: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache.

Occasional: Oral or vaginal candidiasis, rash, mild anemia.

Serious (rare): Aplastic anemia, bone marrow depression, optic neuritis, gray baby syndrome (in neonates).

Storage:

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture.

Keep capsules in the original blister pack until use.

Keep out of reach of children.
