What is it used for?
This combination is used for temporary relief of cough, blocked or runny nose, sneezing and other common cold symptoms. It may be particularly helpful for a dry cough with nasal congestion.

How does it work?
Dextromethorphan helps reduce the urge to cough. Chlorpheniramine reduces allergy-related symptoms such as sneezing and a runny nose, while phenylephrine helps relieve nasal blockage.

How to take/use it
Use exactly as directed on the product label or by a healthcare professional. Do not take more than the recommended amount, and avoid using other cough, cold or allergy medicines containing the same ingredients.

Common side effects
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, blurred vision, nausea, restlessness or difficulty sleeping. Phenylephrine may cause a fast heartbeat or increased blood pressure.

Precautions
May cause drowsiness—avoid driving and alcohol until its effects are known. Consult a healthcare professional before use if there is high blood pressure, heart disease, glaucoma, thyroid disease, prostate or urination problems. Do not use with monoamine oxidase inhibitor medicines or within 14 days of stopping them; check with a healthcare professional before use with antidepressants or other medicines. Seek medical advice if the cough is severe, lasts several days, or is associated with breathing difficulty or high fever.
