Lactolac Suspn (L) (200Ml) Lactulose 66% 10Gm by Elder

What is it used for?
Lactulose is mainly used to relieve constipation by making stools softer and easier to pass. It may also be prescribed by a doctor to help reduce high ammonia levels in people with certain liver conditions.

How does it work?
It draws water into the bowel, softening the stool and helping bowel movements. In liver disease, it also helps reduce the absorption of ammonia from the intestine.

How to take/use it
Take by mouth exactly as directed by the doctor or pharmacist. It may be taken alone or mixed with water or juice. Drink adequate fluids unless fluid restriction has been advised. Do not take more than recommended.

Common side effects
Gas, bloating, stomach cramps, nausea and diarrhoea. Excessive diarrhoea may cause dehydration or loss of body salts.

Precautions
Do not use it without medical advice if there is severe or unexplained abdominal pain, vomiting, suspected bowel blockage or a serious bowel condition. Use with caution if diabetes is present, as some formulations contain sugars. Seek medical advice if diarrhoea is severe or persistent, or if constipation does not improve.
