Lactolac Suspn (S) (100Ml) Lactulose 66% 10Gm by Elder

What is it used for?
Lactulose is mainly used to relieve constipation by making stools softer and easier to pass. It may also be prescribed for some people with liver disease to help reduce the absorption of ammonia, but this use requires medical supervision.

How does it work?
It draws water into the bowel, softening the stool and helping bowel movements. In liver disease, it also helps reduce ammonia absorption from the intestine.

How to take/use it
Take it by mouth exactly as directed on the package or by the prescriber. Measure the product carefully and drink adequate fluids unless fluid restriction has been advised. Do not take more or use it for longer than recommended without medical advice.

Common side effects
Gas, bloating, stomach cramps, nausea and diarrhoea, especially if too much is taken.

Precautions
Do not use it without medical advice if there is severe or unexplained abdominal pain, vomiting, suspected bowel blockage or a sudden change in bowel habits. Prolonged or severe diarrhoea may cause dehydration or disturbed body salts. People with diabetes should ask a doctor or pharmacist before use, as some products may contain sugars. Seek medical advice if constipation does not improve or keeps returning.
