What is it used for?
Levetiracetam is an anti-seizure medicine used to prevent and control epileptic seizures. It may be used alone or with other seizure medicines, as prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
It helps reduce abnormal electrical activity in the brain, which can prevent seizures.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same time each day. Do not stop it suddenly, even if feeling better, as this may trigger seizures. If a dose is missed, follow the advice provided by the doctor or pharmacist.

Common side effects
Sleepiness, dizziness, headache, tiredness, weakness, reduced appetite, and mood or behaviour changes such as irritability or agitation.

Precautions
Tell the doctor about kidney problems, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or any history of depression or other mental-health problems. Seek medical help for severe mood changes, unusual aggression, depression, thoughts of self-harm, serious rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty. Avoid driving or operating machinery until its effects are known, and avoid alcohol unless approved by the doctor.
