What is it used for?
Levetiracetam is used to prevent and control seizures in epilepsy. It may be used alone or together with other anti-seizure medicines, as prescribed by a doctor.

How does it work?
It helps reduce abnormal electrical activity in the brain by regulating the release of certain chemical signals between nerve cells.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same times each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not stop taking it suddenly, as seizures may worsen. If a dose is missed, follow the doctor’s or pharmacist’s advice.

Common side effects
Sleepiness, dizziness, headache, tiredness, weakness, nausea, and irritability or other mood changes.

Precautions
It may cause sleepiness or dizziness; avoid driving or operating machinery until its effects are known. Tell the doctor about kidney problems, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Report severe mood or behaviour changes, depression, thoughts of self-harm, unusual aggression, or allergic reactions promptly. Do not stop treatment without medical advice.
