What is it used for?
Levetiracetam is an anti-seizure medicine used to control seizures in epilepsy. It may be used alone or together with other anti-seizure medicines, as prescribed.

How does it work?
It helps reduce abnormal electrical activity in the brain, thereby lowering the likelihood of seizures.

How to take/use it
Take it exactly as prescribed, at the same times each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet with water. Do not stop taking it suddenly, as this may worsen seizures. If a dose is missed or vomiting occurs after taking it, follow the prescriber's instructions.

Common side effects
Sleepiness, dizziness, headache, tiredness, weakness, nausea, and irritability or other mood changes may occur.

Precautions
Use only under medical supervision. Inform the doctor about kidney disease, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or any history of depression or other mental health problems. Seek medical help for severe mood or behaviour changes, thoughts of self-harm, serious skin rash, swelling of the face or throat, or breathing difficulty. Avoid driving or operating machinery until its effects are known, and avoid alcohol unless the doctor permits it.
